VIVA Foundation for Children with Cancer was set up 15 years ago to save the lives of children with cancer through medical treatment, research, and education. We have come a long way under the guidance of Dr. Ching-Hon Pui of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, who is also the chairman of our External Advisory Board.

Today, thanks to Dr. Pui and his team at St. Jude, acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) has a published cure rate of 94%. In China, the Children’s Cancer Foundation is supporting a 10-year ALL study involving 15,000 children across more than 25 hospitals. The five-year survival rate is 91%. For the past 15 years, we have been organizing the annual St. Jude-VIVA Forum in Pediatric Oncology together with St. Jude, NUH, and KKH in Singapore to create a platform for doctors and scientists from St. Jude and leading medical centers in the West to share their knowledge with doctors in Asia.

Today, we have many more childhood cancer survivors, especially ALL survivors. We know that these survivors need ongoing care and support as they are at a higher risk of future cancers and other health conditions. We hope that survivors will not only survive but also thrive, and we are thankful that Dr. Melissa Hudson is here to help make that happen.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Melissa Hudson lead and kickstart this Cancer Survivorship Series. This series marks an important milestone in pediatric oncology, and to my knowledge, there has never been such a comprehensive course like this before. Thank you, Dr. Hudson, for making this landmark event possible.

We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone on the faculty of the St. Jude-VIVA Survivorship Programme for their dedication and commitment.

Last but not least, on behalf of all children with cancer and survivors worldwide, I wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year.

Thank you.
